ABSTRACTCarlo Broschi, better known as Farinelli, arrived in Madrid on 7 August 1737. King Philip V and his wife Elisabeth Farnese were deeply impressed by his vocal qualities and invited him to remain in their service, on extremely rewarding terms. Although few sources concerning his first months in Spain are available, a newly discovered libretto, L'ombra di Luigi XIV il Grande, sheds light on his position at the Spanish court and his response to the privileged situation he enjoyed. The work is a short solo cantata commissioned by Farinelli and offered to Philip V for his name day in 1738. Il presente lavoro ha previsto inizialmente l’isolamento, la tipizzazione e l’identificazione dei batteri lattici (BL) presenti in campioni di farine utilizzate per prodotti da forno a lievitazione naturale prelevati presso diversi panifici siciliani. Le conte in piastra dei BL sono state ottenute su tre differenti terreni colturali, generici e specifici. I risultati hanno evidenziato una concentrazione massima di BL di 4.75 Log UFC/g. An investigation of the bacteriocinogenic potential of lactic acid bacteria associated with wheat (triticum durum) kernels and non-conventional flours

One hundred and thirty-seven lactic acid bacteria (LAB), previously isolated from wheat (Triticum durum) grains and non-conventional flour samples, were tested for the production of antibacterial substances. A total of 16 strains (5 Enterococcus faecium, 5 Enterococcus mundtii, 4 Pediococcus pentosaceus, 1 Lactobacillus coryniformis and 1 Lactococcus garvieae) were found to inhibit the growth of Listeria innocua. The antibacterial activities were preliminarily investigated for their general behaviour with proteolytic (proteinase K, protease B and trypsin), amylolytic (α-amylase) and lipolytic (lipase) enzymes, after heat treatment, and exposure to different pHs and ethanol concentrations. Los trabajos hispánicos de Arturo Farinelli cubren cinco campos de investigación diferentes: las relaciones literarias entre España y Alemania, las relaciones entre España e Italia, el estudio de La Vida es sueño y Don Juan, y los relatos de viajes en tierras ibéricas. Centrándose en su faceta de hispanistas, el artículo muestra cómo el interés de Farinelli por los temas hispánicos tiene lugar entre 1892-1907, coincidiendo con los quince años desde su traslado a Innsbruck en octubre de 1893 como profesor de la Handelsacademie.
